<p>Writing great blog headlines can be difficult, which is why many bloggers simply don’t bother to do it. However, if you’re willing to learn how to get better at it, you&#8217;ll be surprised by how much a good headline can improve your results.</p>
<p>So what’s the secret to writing good headlines?</p>
<p>It’s a combination of things.</p>
<p>But most importantly, it involves thinking like a copywriter</p>
<p><strong>1. Make a Big Promise</strong></p>
<p>Your blog post may provide very large benefits to your readers.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Example</span>: It might tell them how to use a new Internet marketing technique that is not explained well elsewher</p>
<p>However, if you do not communicate this information to your viewers, then they won’t see the benefit and won’t bother to read your entry.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Example</span>: As an example, consider using a headline like:</p>
<p>“Do _____ 3 Times Faster.”</p>
<p>For all readers, this is a simple and tangible benefit and if this is something they want, then there’s a good chance they’ll read the entry.</p>

<h3>There is good news if you are an entrepreneur.</h3>
<p>Two major shifts are taking place in today&#8217;s world<strong></strong>.  In today’s  business world, the entrepreneur has  the ability to compete directly  with “old business”, and these 2 key  elements explain why.</p>
<p><strong>The first shift has literally eliminated and created thousands of new industries and business models — that shift is caused by the Internet. </strong></p>
<p>The Internet gives the entrepreneur incredible power and reach,  allowing  us all to compete with virtually any company, wherever it’s  located.   This is good news for the entrepreneur! Old school companies  who have figured this out are also reaping substantial rewards.</p>
<p><strong>The second shift, which isn’t as visible in the market but is very  powerful, is that our whole society is changing the way that it  makes  buying decisions. </strong></p>
<p>Today people are desperate for authenticity, transparency and  honesty. The old over the top high pressure sales pitch are no longer  working.</p>

<p>You create your product. You put up your sales page and order button.  Then you unleash your advertising skills to get your offer in front of  as many people as possible.</p>
<p>And then…</p>
<p>Nothing. No sales. Well, maybe a tiny trickle. But not the flood of  PayPal or Clickbank notifications that we you were expecting.</p>
<p>Avoid this nightmare by following these <span style="text-decoration: underline;">seven tips</span> for getting others to buy your products…</p>
<p><strong>1. </strong><strong>Get the Offer in Front of Targeted Audiences</strong></p>
<p>First things first: Get your offer in front of targeted prospects.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Example</span>: If you’re selling a dog training book, don’t email  your marketing list and expect to make sales. Instead, get your offer in  front of people who are likely to buy (e.g., people who need to train  their dogs).</p>
<p><strong>2. </strong><strong>Craft a Compelling Sales Letter</strong></p>
<p>Next, you need to create a sales page that persuades your prospects  to buy your product. This means your sales letter ought to have an  attention-getting headline, an opener that hooks the prospect and  engages her emotions, a bulleted list of benefits, proof that your  claims are true and a call to action.</p>
<p><strong>3. </strong><strong>Give a Bonus</strong></p>
<p>You want to give your prospects a good deal, so that as they read the  sales letter they’re thinking, “wow, I can’t believe I get all this for  just 50 bucks.” Then you really thrill them by throwing in a valuable,  tightly related bonus. This small act turns a “good deal” into a “no  brainer.”</p>
<p><strong>4. </strong><strong>Offer a Guarantee</strong></p>
<p>Your prospects are worried that your product won’t work for them. So  put their worries to bed by offering a risk-reversal – that is, a  satisfaction guarantee. Unconditional, strong and long guarantees  usually deliver the best conversion rates to you.</p>
<p><strong>5. </strong><strong>Create a Sense of Urgency</strong></p>
<p>You need to have a call to action at the end of your letter that  tells your prospects exactly what to do next (e.g., “get out your credit  card and click here to get started now…”). But you also need to give  your prospects a good reason to act NOW, otherwise they may leave the  page and not come back.</p>
<p>The solution? Create a sense of urgency by:</p>
<ul>
<li>Reminding the prospect that his pain and his problems will be over when he buys the product.</li>
<li>Offering a limited-time discount or bonus offer.</li>
<li>Offering a limited quantity of products.</li>
<li>Offering a bonus or discount to the first few hundred people who order.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>6. </strong><strong>Close the Sale Via Multiple Contacts</strong></p>
<p>The vast majority of your prospects won’t buy the first time they see  your sales page, especially if they don’t know who you are (or they  weren’t referred by a trusted third party). As such, you can increase  your conversion rate by getting your sales letter visitors into an  autoresponder series of at least seven messages. This series should  build trust by offering a good content, while including promotions to  close the sale.</p>
<p><strong>7. </strong><strong>Test and Track Your Results</strong></p>
<p>Finally, testing and tracking your sales letter, price, and ad  campaigns puts more money in your pocket. It helps you figure out what  part of the process gets more people to buy your product. That way, you  can focus on those parts of the process that give you the highest  profits.</p>
<p>You just discovered seven surefire ways to get people to buy more of your products.</p>
<p>Don’t pick and choose the methods you like best. Instead, incorporate all seven ideas… and enjoy the results!</p>

<p>Step 3 of the ten steps to leadership has to do with the things you need to see your plan succeed.</p>
<p>In Step 3 you answer these questions</p>
<ul>
<li>What      Resources Do I Have?</li>
<li>What      Resources Do I Need?</li>
</ul>
<p>A plan is useless if you do not have access to the resources that you need or can not obtain those resources easily. If you lack a key resource you will have to change your plan or face failure. If you plan calls for a sky hook &#8211; no amount of wishing is going to get you one. The plan must also include the how; how are you going to get the resources you need.</p>
<p>However if the resources are available then the steps to gather them, acquire them or persuade them become part of the plan</p>
<p>Here are some things to consider when looking at resources.</p>
<ol>
<li>Remember you are just one of the resources at hand. Who else can help?  Do you have any mentors or advisors? What about a master mind group?</li>
<li>Is building a team a benefit or do you just need the loan of someone else&#8217;s resources, temporary help or out sourcing.</li>
<li>Remember K.I.S.S. &#8211; Keep It Simple Stupid. Simple gets it accomplished far more easily. Look at the steps in your plan. Can a series of simpler steps take the place of a complex step?</li>
<li>Cost effectiveness? You can over do it. Yes a backhoe is good at digging a ditch, but if it’s short and shallow and a laborer could dig it in an hour &#8211; why not hire the laborer instead.</li>
<li>Scrounge, borrow, buy or lease the resources you need? There may be other options as well.</li>
<li>Quality? Is it to be a quick and dirty task leading up to a bigger task or goal, or is the task at hand going to be part of your legacy? Does building a monument get you to the objective in the best way? In real life nothing is perfect; sometimes you have to ask is this level of quality good enough?</li>
<li>The resulting feeling you want all to experience when done. As with many things in life we will be dealing with emotions and passions. Take a close look at the objective and your intended actions to be taken along the way. You will be judged by the actions you take. The way you want to be judged may influence the resources you decide to use to reach your objective.</li>
</ol>
<p>In Step 3 Clearly Define</p>
<ul>
<li>What      resources do You Have? and</li>
<li>What      resources do you need?</li>
</ul>
<p>In step 4 we&#8217;ll look at what challenges or obstacles that might come up.</p>

<p>That was my identifying name for the BlackBerry prototype given to me (it was  the 14th test unit in the country at the time) at a Toronto press conference in  May of that year because of my lofty position at mobile media pioneer Airborne  Entertainment.</p>
<p>Since then, because of said device and others like it, I&#8217;ve been  &#8220;<em><strong>out of the office</strong></em>,&#8221; &#8220;<em><strong>on  vacation</strong></em>,&#8221; &#8220;<em><strong>incommunicado</strong></em>&#8221; even&#8230;but  never really &#8220;<em><strong>away.</strong></em>&#8220;  Since that late spring day at  the turn of the millennium, requests, responsibilities, cries for attention  and/or calls for action have followed me everywhere.</p>
<p>Because of that, I&#8217;ve never been one to lay down one of those &#8220;Out of Office&#8221;  auto-replies, because I knew what everyone else knew&#8211;it was a lie. I had access  to email, and people had access to me, 25/8.  But no regrets, it was my choice,  and I lived with the consequences, both good and bad.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s where I&#8217;m going with this&#8211;on Friday last week, I sent out three  emails to people who <strong><em>DO</em></strong> believe in &#8220;Out of Office&#8221;  notifications.  Here are two of &#8216;em verbatim, the first friendly and routine,  the second terse and almost blaming me for having the nerve to send an email  (identities hidden to protect the innocent):</p>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">I am  currently out of the office on a business trip and will be returning on Monday,  April 26.  I will be checking emails periodically.  Should you need immediate  assistance, please email <a href="mailto:sam@parallelentertainment.com" target="_blank">someone@somewhere.com</a> or call 310-555-1234.</span><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Thank you for your  email.</span></em></p></blockquote>

<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">Now there are two ways to do just about anything: the  boring-standard or the innovative-exciting.  The first two subscribe to the  former.<br />

<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">Here&#8217;s the third one, which I&#8217;m not only envious of because of  its creativity and personality (including its subject line, which was  &#8220;<em><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #ff0000;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #ff0000;"><span style="font-family: Arial; color: #ff0000;">Yanik has Left The  Building,</span></span></span></strong></em>&#8220;) but because of the guts of the  kindred spirit who sent it.  When <em><strong>Yanik Silver</strong></em> is away  from the office, he&#8217;s <em><span style="font-family: Arial Black;">REALLY </span></em>away:</span></p>

<p style="font-family: Arial Black;"><em>Thanks for  the note &#8211; I&#8217;m currently off  email until 4/26. So in order to not have a bazillion emails (yes, this is a  scientific number, I counted) when I return &#8211; your message has been  deleted.</p>
<p>But have no fear &#8212; if you need an immediate response, please  email my Rock Star assistant, Chasity -</em> <em><a href="mailto:chasity@maverickbusinessinsider.com" target="_blank">chasity@maverickbusinessinsider.com</a><br />
or just shoot me  a note after April 26th.</p>
<p>However, if you really need something urgently &#8211;  text my cell phone or try bribing Chasity to find me. (I hear she likes  chocolate!)</em> <em></p>

<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">So what&#8217;s the lesson here?<br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">First of all, I don&#8217;t see the need for messages the variety of  example #1 or #2 anymore. They&#8217;re obsolete. If you&#8217;re checking your email  periodically, or are going to be back in the office on Monday, trust me, we can  live with the delay of your response.  What&#8217;s more&#8211;and what&#8217;s worse&#8211;is that  the onus is on you to deal with me, and the deluge that awaits you, upon your  return.</span></p>
<p>But in Yanik&#8217;s case, he flips the funnel. In a way that&#8217;s cheeky yet honest,  he puts the onus on me to deal with him. I decide&#8211;assistant, text message, or  re-send after April 26th.  I&#8217;m now on his schedule and playing by his rules. And  by the way, uh&#8230;I&#8217;ve been deleted <img src='http://infoabounds.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' title="The Difference Between Not Here and Away" /> </p>
<p>But here&#8217;s what I really learned this week:</p>
<p>I learned the difference between &#8220;<strong><em>Not Here</em></strong>&#8221; and  &#8220;<em><strong>Away</strong></em>,&#8221; and more importantly, that you <em><strong>CAN </strong></em>truly &#8220;<em><strong>Get Away</strong></em>&#8220;&#8230;if you want to.</p>
<p>Gonna have to try Yanik&#8217;s way sometime soon.</p>
